Evelyn Heusdens (1926 – 2007)

Evelyn D. Heusdens, age 81, a resident of Racine died Sunday April 8, 2007 at her residence.

Born in Seymour WI on January 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Julia (Muellor) Schultz.

She came to Racine as a young girl and was educated in the schools of Racine.

On January 13, 1945, she married John Heusdens in Racine. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1977.

She was formerly employed at JC Penney and in the lunch room at St. John’s Lutheran School.

She had been a foster parent for 10 years, caring for 35 area boys. She was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, and was active in the Ladies Axillary. She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

She is survived by three sons, John (Sandy) Heusdens of OK, Richard (Theresa) Heusdens of Racine, and Michael (Rose) Heusdens of Racine; two daughters, Penny Paulson and Christine (Thomas) Gregory, both of Racine; 24 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother Harvey Schultz; three sisters June (Gene) Stanford, Marjorie (Dan) Gerou, and Nancy (Ed) Reyes. She is further survived by two of her foster sons whom she stayed very close with, Michael Gatzke, and Bill Smith; a very close friend who she considered her guardian angel, Roy Patterson; and her dog Lady McBeth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Joyce Kennow, and one brother Richard Schultz.

A memorial service will be held on Friday April 13, 2007 at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church at 11:00AM. (1700-South Green Bay Road) Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 10:00AM until the time of services.
