Alfred Savaglio (1938 – 2011)

Alfred “Al” C. Savaglio, age 73 a resident of Somers, died Tuesday April 12th 2011 at his residence surrounded by family.

Al was born in Italy on March 31 1938 to the late Benedetto and Carolina (Guido) Savaglio. He attended schools in Italy. He came to the United States in 1952.

On September 7th 1969 he married Rosalba Reda in Marano Principato at L’Annuziata Church in Italy.

He was employed at AMC/Chrysler for 34 years and retired in 1998.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church as well as the Roma Lodge. He loved Bocce Ball, gardening, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife Rosalba of Somers; one son Alfred (Lisa Katzer) Savaglio Jr.; one daughter Amy (John) Miceli and his grandchildren Lauren, Michael and Emma Miceli. He is further survived by one sister; Teresa (Armando) Covelli and one brother Domenic (Esterina) Savaglio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Lidia and mother in law Armanda Reda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 16th 2011 at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. (2224-45th Street) Visitation with the family will be on Saturday at the church from 10:30AM until the time of services. Entombment will take place at All Saints Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be preferred and can be made to the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Research Department or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. James Santarelli, Dr. AJ Capelli, Dr. Bandealy and Dr. Haider. They also want to acknowledge Hospice Alliance with special mention of Regina, Julie and Jill for their loving care of their loved one.
