Adella Saltmeris (1908 – 2005)

Adella Saltmeris, age 97 a resident of Kenosha died Wednesday July 13, 2005 at Washington Manor Nursing Home.

Born on April 19, 1908 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Jakabowsky) Zivotkauskis.

In 1911 she moved to Lithuania with her mother. She was educated in the schools of Lithuania. She returned to the U.S. in 1929, settling in Kenosha.

In 1930 she married Peter Saltmeris. Together they owned and operated Service Food Market from 1931-1942. They then opened Pete?s Bar in Kenosha and operated it from 1943-1958. Peter died on December 29, 1969.

Her daughter Helen (Ellsworth) Pratzer of Kenosha; one granddaughter Heidi (Joseph) Norwick of McFarland WI, and two great granddaughters Katie Norwick of Chicago and Sadie Norwick of Lake Forest IL survive her.

Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.

A funeral mass for Adella will be held on Saturday July 16, 2005 at 11:00PM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kenosha. (2224-30th Avenue) Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:30AM until the time of mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Hospice Alliance.
