Morton Johnson (1924 – 2007)

Morton E. Johnson, age 83, a resident of Racine, died Friday, December 21, 2007, at Aurora Medical Center.

Morton was born on November 9, 1924 in Fulton Mississippi to Dow and Hattie (Skinner) Johnson.

He served in the United States Army earning himself the World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan.

He was a member of the VFW, the Masonic Lodge Pike 355, a former member of the Kenosha Alano Club, and a Veteran of WWII Pacific Theatre. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by four sons Michael (Theresa) of Portage, Stephen of Racine, Charles (Donna) of Vancouver WA, and David of Kenosha; a daughter Diane (Chuck) Giovanelli of Kenosha; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchild. He is further survived by two brothers Charles (Patsy), and Gordon (Shelby) both of Mississippi; one sister Mamie Kerby of Kenosha, and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Jewel and Melvie; and one brother-in-law Bruff Kerby.

A funeral service will be held at Sunset Ridge Chapel (6211 38th St.) on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at 10:00am. Burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Christian Church (130022 Wilmot Rd., Kenosha, 53142) would be appreciated.
