Eugene Kreger

Eugene L. Kreger, age 73, a resident of Pleasant Prairie died on Friday April 15th, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

          Gene was born on July 30th, 1942 inKenosha to Emil Kreger Sr. and Margaret (Heinz) Kreger and was educated in the local schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1964 to 1966. On April 19th, 1986, he was united in marriage with Diana (Bennett) Schalk.

          Gene was a Vice President for Kreger Brothers Construction and worked for Wisconsin Associates during the construction of the Pleasant Prairie Power Plant from 1978 until 1985. He then worked for the Kenosha Water Utility, retiring in 2011. Gene was a member of American Legion Post #552.

          Many things in life gave Gene great joy especially his love of the Lord, his cherished family, his extended church family from Crossways Community Church, his care groups and his many treasured friends.

Surviving Gene is his loving wife Diana Kreger of Pleasant Prairie and his children; Jennifer (Steve) Meier of Henderson NV, Lisa (William) Koenes of Kenosha, Peggy Schalk of Pittsboro, NC, Mary (John) Procarione of Greenfield, Mark (Joanne) Schalk of Racine, Michael (Cindy) Schalk of Kenosha and David (Kim) Schalk, of Muskego. He is further survived by his grandchildren Ryan (Jessica), Matt and Zack Koenes, Olivia Meier, Aaron Schalk, Amber (Chris) Malsack, Lauren and Andrea Procarione, Ben and Jake Schalk and by his siblings Emil “Bud” Kreger of Paris, H. John (Bonnie) Kreger of Phoenix AZ and Margaret “Sis” Mangette of Arizona.

          Preceding Gene in death were his parents and his brothers Edward, Lt. Fredrick, Theodore “Ted”, Gilbert Kreger and one sister Dorothy Butterfield.

The family would like to give special thanks to all of the wonderful friends who generously gave their time, energy and compassionate support to Gene and his family during the last several months.

          Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 20th 2016 at 6:00PM at Crossway Community Church in Bristol WI. (13905-75th Street) Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday at the church from 4:00PM until the time of services. Private burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Brookfield WI.
