Thomas Sullivan (1928 – 2010)

Thomas J. Sullivan, 81, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday April 21, 2010 at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on July 5, 1928 in Kenosha, the son of the late Gregory P. and Ethel (Cavanagh) Sullivan. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha. Tom married Charmaine M. Bezotte on February 12, 1949 and together they raised two children. They were members of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Tom was employed by the City of Kenosha Street Dept., Consumer Ready-Mix, Vulcan Materials, McHenry Sand & Gravel and Meyer Materials. He was a Superintendent/Manager for McHenry Sand & Gravel and started both the Ponderosa Sand & Gravel Pit in Kenosha and the K-D Pit in Bassett, WI. The Ponderosa Pit later developed into Lake Andrea.

He enjoyed traveling to Door County and Florida in his RV. In his retirement years he did wood-working. He made many beautiful pieces for his granddaughters and great grandchildren. He loved doing yard work and gardening with his wife.

Survivors include his loving wife, Charmaine; his children, Katherine (William) Kovacs, Kenosha and Gary (Toni Monroe) Sullivan, Kenosha. He is also survived by his five granddaughters, Laura Dabbs, Jennifer (Kendal) Kreibich, Kimberly (Mark) Jankowski, Melissa (Ryan) Laughlin and Heather Kovacs. Tom has seven great grandchildren, Sydney and Tyler Dabbs, Megan and Zachary Jankowski, Abbey and Hunter Kreibich and Connor Laughlin.

Tom was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Jane Bezotte.

According to the wishes of Mr. Sullivan, services will be private.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Buencamino and Dr. Bandealy as well as their entire staff for their kind compassionate care. Tom would refer to them as his “angels”. Also a special thank you to Hospice Alliance.
