Ruth Lichter (1913 – 2010)

Ruth Cecilia Lichter, age 96, a resident of Somers Township passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Brookside Care Center.

Ruth was born on October 12, 1913 to Patrick and Alice (Malone) Kearney in Racine. She married Walter Lichter on February 27, 1935 at St. James Church in Kenosha. Ruth was a longtime member of St. George Church and more recently a member of St. Peter Church. She enjoyed crocheting knitting reading and cross word puzzles. She was a volunteer at Woodstock Nursing Home, was active with RSVP, and also did mission work while a member of St. George Catholic Church. She was also a member of the St. George Christian Mothers.

Ruth is survived by her daughters Sister Ruth Anne, SSND (School Sisters of Notre Dame), of Elm Grove and Rosemary (Don) Moenssen of Kenosha, and her sons Leonard (Maria) of Cashton, and Lawrence (Joyce) of Brookfield. She is also survived by eight grandchildren Janet (Mike) Oehl, Steve (Sandy) Moenssen, Christine LeAir, MaryBeth (Rob Marshke) Moenssen, Amy (John) Depauw, David (Keri) Moenssen, Maggie (Brian) Grady and Rob Lichter. She if further survived by fifteen great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her grandson Steven Lichter, her sisters Mary Koehn, Alice Middlecamp and Loretta Whitty, her brother Lawrence and her daughters-in-law Mary and Robin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 3rd 2010 at 11:00AM at St. Peters Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of mass. Private burial will take place at St. George Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to either the School Sisters of Notre Dame or to St. Peters Catholic Church would be appreciated.
