Kathleen McPhaul (1927 – 2006)

Kathleen (Kay) McPhaul passed away February 25 2006 at her residence.

Born on November 13, 1927 in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Matt and Gertrude (Brotcke) Becker.

She attended St. Mark?s Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High and Kenosha High School.

On November 29, 1947 at St. Mark?s Catholic Church in Kenosha, she married Roger McPhaul.

She started to work behind the soda fountain at Mayers Drug Store while still in high school and worked there on and off until retiring April 30, 1987 as a pharmacist?s assistant.

She enjoyed knitting, embroidering and crocheting. Kay was also a bowler winning many honor roll patches and team trophies. She was also a golfer and belonged to the Bristol Oaks Bunnies and the Maplecrest Swingers Ladies 9 Hole golf leagues. Kay was active as a Eucharistic Minister at both St. Marks and St. Therese Catholic Churches and was assistant director of St. Mark?s C.Y.O for many years.

On October 17, 1987 she and husband moved to Hot Springs Village Arkansas where she made many new friends and continued her golfing career with the 9 Hole ladies Golf Association.

On June 19, 2000, Kay and Roger moved back to Kenosha to be closer to family.

Kay is survived by her husband Roger, her two daughters Linda (Dave) Sherfinski of Kenosha, Nancy (Richard) Buege of Juneau WI, two sons James (Cheryl) McPhaul and David McPhaul of Kenosha; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is further survived two brothers; Gerald (Mary) Becker of Janesville WI and Gerome (Nora) Becker of Wildrose WI.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kay will be held on Tuesday February 28, 2006 at 5:00PM at St. Therese Catholic Church in Kenosha. (2020-91st) Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the church from 3:00PM until the time of mass. Private interment will be held at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to either Hospice Alliance or St. Therese Catholic Church.
