Hazel Carlson (1907 – 2005)

Hazel M. Carlson, age 98, a resident of Somers died Monday February 28, 2005 at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie.

Born on January 6, 1907 in Chicago IL, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Thompson) Jones.

She was educated in the schools of Chicago. She married Arvid Carlson on September 23, 1931 in Chicago and they had three children. Later they moved to Lake Como WI where they were resort managers. In 1945 they moved their family to Kenosha. Hazel was employed by the Kenosha Book Bindery and later at American Motors until her retirement in 1972.

She spent her retirement traveling, fishing and gardening. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and spent as much time with them as possible.

She is survived by two daughters; Marilyn (Keith) Dunham of Kenosha, Lee Eodice of Caldwell Idaho; four grandchildren; Tracy (Ronald) DeRose, Beth (Michael) Reynolds, Susan (Steve) Burt, Brian (Mary) Dunham and nine great grandchildren; Lisa Elliot, Anthony ?Tony? DeRose, Jessica ?Jessie? Burt, Cassandra ?Cassie? Reynolds, Adam DeRose, Nicholas ?Nick? DeRose, Michael ?Mike? Reynolds Jr., Hallie Dunham and Jacob ?Jake? Dunham.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arvid; infant son Richard Alan; brothers Frank, Charles, Harvey and Albert Jones; sister Dorothy Schroeder and beloved nephew Albert Jones.

Funeral services for Hazel will be held on Friday March 4, 2005 at 11:00AM at St. Anne Catholic Church in Pleasant Prairie. (9091-Prairie Ridge Blvd) Visitation with the family will be held on Friday March 4, 2005 at the church from 10:00AM until the time of mass. Burial will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.

Memorials to either Hospice Alliance or to St. Anne Catholic Church would be appreciated.
