Elaine Nelson

Elaine M. Nelson of Kenosha died January 11, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Home and Rehabilitation Center in Kenosha at age 82, following a long illness. Born August 8, 1935 in Spencer, WI, she was the daughter of the late George and Luella Krueger.

Elaine attended schools in Spencer and was a graduate of Spencer High School. She then moved to
Milwaukee and was employed at Nunn Bush Shoe Company and Briggs & Stratton Corporation until 1963. On September 7, 1963 she married Wayne G. Nelson of Kenosha. She has resided in Kenosha since.

Elaine was a caring wife, mother and homemaker. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and puzzles. She dedicated many years to helping care for her grandchildren, particularly enjoying playing sports with them and baking for them. Elaine was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church of Kenosha. She was an avid sports fan, with lifetime loyalty to the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Braves and Brewers, and the Wisconsin Badgers.

She is survived by two children, Jeffrey (Eleanor) Nelson of Olathe, KS and Wendy (Michael) Krueger of Kenosha; six grandchildren: Emily( Ben) Johnson, Benjamin Nelson, Joshua Krueger, Madeline Krueger, Grace Nelson and Jeremy Krueger; and one sister, Ruby Ritger, of Boise, ID. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne; brothers Victor, Stanley, and Earl Krueger; and sisters, Helen Bernhardt and Mable Johnson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday January 15, 2018 at 5:00PM at St. Marys Lutheran Church in Kenosha. (2001 80th Street) Visitation with the family will be on Monday at the church from 4:00PM until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elaine’s name to St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, St. Joseph’s Home and Rehabilitation Center, or Hospice Alliance, all of Kenosha.
