Danielle Annaye “Pook” Ricchio (1989-2013)

Danielle Ricchio

Danielle Annaye “Pook” Ricchio, age 23, a resident of Kenosha was called into the loving arms of our Lord on Monday January 7, 2013. She passed away peacefully at Kenosha Hospital.

She was born on June 7, 1989 at the old St. Catherine’s Hospital in Kenosha, the daughter of Romano and Debra Smith-Ricchio.

She graduated from Bradford High School in 2007, attended UW-Milwaukee, and came home to attend Gateway Technical College. She was working on becoming a Surgical Tech. She had always wanted to go into the medical field.

Her passions were her family, music, volleyball, basketball, but her heart belonged to soccer. As a High School Freshman she made the varsity team as well as always being a starter. She had numerous awards, and was as fast as the wind.

Her heroic actions and legacy that Pook will leave is that she was an organ donor. Many, many other peoples lives were saved because of her giving heart and wanting other people to live on because of her donations.

She is survived by her dad Romano I. Ricchio, her mom Debra Smith-Ricchio, and her beloved little sister Breanna “Brean” Ricchio, and her buddy, our rabbit, Thumper Ann whom Pook loved to play tag with, her grandma Mary Ann Tully-Smith and Ada Ricchio. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her precious Auntie Sue, Susan Smith-Delaney, Robert G. “Bob” Smith, an uncle Gianni Ricchio of Cozena, Italy.

Friends and family can pay tribute to Danielle at Holy Rosary Church on Monday January 14, 2013 from 8:30AM to 10:00AM.  A catholic mass will follow at 10:00AM and she will then be laid to rest at St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.

A special thank you to Kenosha Hospital ICU nurses for their support and sympathy. They took excellent care of Pook and our family. Dr. Mariani, for his expertise and kindness. The organ transplant nurses and entire team for helping Danielle fulfill her wishes while supporting her with kindness and respect. They called her “a superhero”

Kiss Auntie Sue and Grandpa for us.
