Thomas Maegaard

Thomas C. Maegaard, age 77 a resident of Kenosha, died Wednesday September 28th 2016 atBrooksideCareCenter.

Tom was born September 20th, 1939 in Kenosha to Chester and Emily (Dwyer) Maegaard. He attended St. Mark grade school and graduated from Bradford High School in 1957.

On August 20th, 1960, Thomas was united in marriage with Judith Micheln at St. Thomas Church in Kenosha. He worked as a master mechanic at AMC/Chrysler, retiring after 32 years in 1989. He then worked at U.W. Parkside in the maintenance department.

Tom was a true handy man; able to repair anything. He enjoyed complaining about yard work almost as much as he enjoyed keeping the perfect yard. Tom traveled the U.S. on his Honda motorcycle and cherished the times spent with his wife and friends. The most precious moments to Tom were the times spent outdoors with family and friends, whether fishing Washington Island, deer hunting in the fall, or playing a round golf, all as time spent with his wife, sons and grandchildren.

Tom was one of the founding members of the “Rink Rats” associated with the Kenosha Ice Complex and Komets hockey. He was a longtime volunteer with the hockey program, lending his talents to his own family members and many area youth as a coach who helped bring the first State Championship to Kenosha in 1976.  After his own sons ‘retired’ from youth sports, Tom really enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with old friends, while making just as many new ones.

Coming full circle, he once again returned to become a sports fanatic inKenosha, spending countless days watching his grandchildren play soccer, hockey and golf, along with track and cross country. He was a lifetime member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.

Surviving Tom is his loving wife Judith of Kenosha, his sons Kevin (Denise) Maegaard of Kenosha, Kenneth Maegaard of Spooner, and Mark (Jennifer) Maegaard of Pleasant Prairie, and his grandchildren Justin (Hayley) Maegaard, Mitchell Maegaard, Maxwell Maegaard and Raeanna Maegaard as well as his great grandchildren Arielle and Teagan.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday October 3rd 2016 at 11:00AM at St. Marks Catholic Church in Kenosha. (7117-14th Avenue) Visitation with the family will take place on Monday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of mass. Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to eitherSt.Marks Catholic Church, Hospice Alliance or the Kenosha Blue Line Hockey Club would be appreciated.

The family would like to provide many thanks to those who helped during this difficult time.  Although too many to mention, special thanks to the Hospice Alliance, the cancer group at Aurora, including Dr. Bandealy and Tom’s personal caretaker, Dr. Joe Garetto.
