Ruth Marion Prange (1917 – 2011)

Ruth Marion (Lauer) Prange, 94, Brookside Care Center, died Wednesday, December 28th at Brookside, surrounded by family.

The daughter of Peter and Myrtle (Gardinier) Lauer, she was born August 30, 1917, in Paris Township. She attended Kenosha schools, graduating from Kenosha High School in 1936. She then graduated from the College of Commerce. On June 1, 1940, she married Roger E. Prange in Somers. Ruth, known by most as Marion, worked outside the home only briefly while Roger served in WWII. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Pleasant Prairie Women’s Club and taught cooking for 4-H.

Ruth was an active, lifelong member of Somers Community Church (formerly Somers UCC) where she was involved in service groups until recent years when she was no longer able to participate. Ruth was a resident at Meadowmere Assisted Living facility before moving to Brookside. At Brookside, she became beloved “Ruthie” to the staff, and the family wishes to thank them for their compassionate, professional care and kindness.

Survivors are her daughter Patricia Campbell Hervat (John), Kenosha; a granddaughter, Tammie Campbell, Kenosha; and two great-children Cameron Roger Campbell and Brittani Nicole Campbell, also of Kenosha.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral services will be celebrated at Somers Community Church, Tuesday January 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Private Burial will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday evening, January 2nd at the church from 3:00 ? 5:00 p.m. and also Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Safe Harbor Humane Society, as Marion was an animal lover.
