Robert T. Visintainer (1930-2014)

Robert T. Visintainer, age 84 a resident of Kenosha, died Monday September 15th 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born on August 27th, 1930 in Milwaukee to Marius Joseph and Columba Rose (Noldin) Visintainer. Robert served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Army in Korea, achieving the rank of Corporal. On October 4th, 1952 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Louise Holt in Evanston, Illinois. She would precede him in death on March 13th, 2014.

Robert worked for AMC/Chrysler as a paint engineer for 36 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and also of American Legion Post 21, Korean War Veterans Association of Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter 227 and the Eagle’s Nest Association.

Robert was an avid golfer who worked as a starter at Petrifying Springs Golf Course. He was an excellent carpenter who did fine work in the homes of many family members and friends as well as at St. Peter’s Church. He enjoyed opera, especially the great tenors like Mario Lanza. Robert was a self proclaimed “male chauvinist pig” and was a lot like Archie Bunker of the TV show All in the Family, but he had a heart as big as Texas.

Robert is survived by his children, Vicki (Thomas) Basta of Oak Creek, Debra Roberts of Phoenix, AZ, Robert Jr.(Sharon) of Lake Geneva, and Thomas (Amy) ofKenosha.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Robert (Tanya) Visintainer III, Robert Piotrowski, Joseph (Tiffany) Basta, Thomas Visintainer II, Kristina (James) Sullivan, Codi Thorpe, Theresa Basta, Phillip Basta, Ashley Thorpe, Natasha Piotrowski, Alex Visintainer and Sarah Calcagno; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Pearl Manzella of Dallas Texas, his brother-in-law Don Phelps of Mesa Arizona and his brother-in-law Charles (Charleen) Holt of Phoenix Arizona, three special nieces and six special nephews along with numerous great nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his parents, his sister Bernice Phelps, his sister-in-law Ruth, his brothers-in-law Dennis Holt and Thomas Holt, a nephew Thomas Holt, II and a great niece Maria Manzella.

A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday September 23rd, 2014 at 3:00PM at St Peter’s Catholic Church (2224-30th Ave). Visitation time with the family will be held on Tuesday at the church from 1:00PM until the time of services. Private interment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Hospice Alliance but especially to her main caregivers, Nancy and Sally for their compassionate care of Robert.

In lieu of flowers memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated.

  1. Our deepest sympathy. Uncle Bob was an amazing Uncle. We were so blessed to be able to be with him and his children during his final days/hours of life. He will be truly missed. Love you so much Uncle, but you are at peace now and dancing with Auntie. You will be in our hearts forever!
    Love,
    Kathy (Charlie) & Don
