Rebecca Hollister (1976-2016)

Rebecca Hollister

Rebecca Lynne Hollister, 40, of Waukesha, WI, passed away on December 12, 2016.

Born in Kenosha, WI, on February 6, 1976, Becky was raised in a household of strong women who were passionate about helping others. From that foundation, she lived her life’s purpose helping children to be more than the situation in which they were born into so they may achieve a happier life.

As a Supervisor for the Child and Family Services Division of Waukesha County Department of Health and Human Services, Becky made an indelible mark on countless lives. She did this through her wisdom, warm smile and willingness to go the extra step to ensure the best outcomes for all who interacted with her.

Her greatest joy was realized as a foster parent where she could make a more direct impact on the lives of the children she cared for during their time of transition.

Becky generated a special kind of magic. Her verve for life, quick wit and effortless laughter were magnetic. She fiercely loved and protected those closest to her, finding happiness in creating moments of joy for her people.

Becky is survived by her father, John Hollister of Kenosha; her step-father, Everett Schubert of Kenosha; her sisters: Lora (Dan) Miller of Kenosha; Alicia Hollister of San Antonio, TX; Karolynn (Brian) Cionek (Krause) of Lexington, SC.

She is further survived by her nieces: Amanda (Chris Niemi) Salley, Kali (Jason) Richel; her nephews: Jackson Cionek, Cole Cionek; her soon-to-be great niece/nephew Baby Richel; her person, Josh Lorenz; her beloved foster children; her Alpha Xi Delta and college sisters Cori, Liz, Kelly, Beth, Gina, Michelle, Kristyn, Lisa and Jes; her extended family and legion of friends and colleagues.

Becky was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Schubert.

Burial services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, for immediate family.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be held in Milwaukee on Saturday, January 7, 2017. More information will be shared closer to the date through Facebook.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated with charities to be designated at a later time, www.gofundme.com/vn-live-like-becky.
