Mary Jane Moyer (1932-2014)

Mary Jane Moyer

Mary Jane Moyer passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2014 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  Mary Jane has lived a remarkable life and is well loved by all she leaves behind as well as those who have gone before her.  Born on January 3, 1932 in Boyd, Wisconsin to Veronica and Albert Schneider, she graduated from St. JosephGrade School. In the elementary school she prided herself on the fact that she read every book contained in the school library.  She graduated as Salutatorian from Stanley Class of 1949.  Mary Jane played basketball and played trumpet in the band for her school.  She instilled a love of music in her children.  She grew up on a farm and enjoyed the times of her childhood.  She had an older sister, Irene (Girlie) and three older brothers, Lawrence, Ralph, and Leander.  She also has two younger sisters.  On May 30, 1951 she married the love of her life, Dale Moyer, at St. Joseph’s Church in Boyd, Wisconsin.  They are longtime members of St. Mary Catholic Church and raised five children: James (Ann) of East Lyme, CT, Laurie (Jeff) of River Falls, WI, Lisa (Mike) Bain of Kenosha, John (Carrie) of Mt.Pleasant, and Linda (Jeff) of Muskego.  She lovingly raised five children and was devoted to family time above all else excepting her faith. Mary Jane worked for American Motors and Manpower among other jobs before returning to school at GatewayTechnicalCollege where she obtained a degree in computer science. She then began a twenty year career at Ladish Tri-Clover.  Mary Jane was a keypunch operator and computer programmer/analyst in her career. She loved camping and was a charter and lifetime member of the Kenosha Ramblers Camping Club. She was an outstanding and decorated bowler as well as a fan — first of any activity in which her children and grandchildren were involved and secondly of the Green Bay Packers and Marquette Warriors.  She loved being active in her church, reading, and completing crossword puzzles.  She unfailingly supported and attended musical, athletic, and other events involving her children and grandchildren.  Her one enduring desire was to be a good mother and to instill values and a sense of the value of family.  At this, she overwhelmingly succeeded.  Over the years she hosted many family gatherings and always welcomed everyone to share in her hospitality.  As her family grew by generations, she carefully nurtured the family ties and, above all, encouraged family togetherness and inclusivity. As an interested observer once said “Mrs. Moyer, you run a tight ship.”  Many people turned to her for counsel with their problems and she was always very generous with her time and advice. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and beloved grandson Riley Bain. She is survived by her husband and five children as well as ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.  She is also survived by her two younger sisters, Janice Vallin and DeeAnn O’Mera.  She leaves the world a better place with an enduring legacy of hard work, positive family values, and love.
