Mary Jane Melander (1955-2015)

Mary Jane Melander, age 59, a resident of Kenosha, died Tuesday April 28th, 2015 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee surrounded by the people she loved.

Born on May 12th 1955 in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary (Dubanowicz) Hansche. On June 25th, 1983, she was united in marriage with John Melander, Sr. They were blessed with a son and a daughter. John would precede her in death in 2013.

Mary Jane worked as a cook at Brookside Care Center. In her spare time she enjoyed tending her beautifully blooming rose bushes, making ceramics, and spending time at Lake Delton and with her sisters. Mary Jane was a doting grandmother and loved to spend time with family.

She is survived by her son James (Tara) Melander of Kenosha, her daughter Kristen (Marc) Manderfield of Racine and her step-son John Melander, Jr. She is additionally survived by her beloved grandchildren; Mason, Evan, Brody. Colton and Madison and by her brothers, Thomas (Jackie) Hansche and Mark (Kathy) Hansche and her sisters Lucy (Merlin) Anderson and Charlotte Kelps, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her kind smile and ready laugh. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, as well as her brothers, John Hansche and David Hansche and her brother-in-law Allen Kelps.

A Funeral Service for Mary Jane will take place on Friday May 1, 2015  at 1:00p.m at The Woman’s Club of Kenosha (6028-8th Ave,Kenosha, WI 53143 West of Library Park). A time for visiting with the family will take place at the Woman’s Club from noon until the time of services.

Wherever Mary Jane is right now, we hope there is a good NCIS marathon on the TV.
