Marion Seymour (1908 – 2005)

Marion E. Seymour, age 97 a resident of Kenosha, died Tuesday June 14, 2005 at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha.

Born on June 14, 1908 in Baron WI she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Catherine (Clemens) Johnston.

She was educated in the schools of Baron WI until she came to the Kenosha area in her high school years and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School.

On August 22, 1934, she married Gordon A. Seymour in Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1975. They had met when she worked at Mayer Drug in downtown Kenosha. She had also worked for a time at Johnson Hardware Store on 22nd Avenue, which was owned by her brother Ted. After she married, she worked as a homemaker in her own home.

She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church, and active in the Women?s Association ?Hannah Circle?. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed fishing, hiking and was well known for her ?precision wood stacking?. She spent spring and summers at the family cottage in northern WI and loved spending time there with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family memories of the fun they all had together were precious to her. She also loved to express herself artistically through Crewel Work and would make pieces for her entire family.

She is survived by one son James D. (Shirley) Seymour of Kenosha; two daughters, Jan (David Sr.) Hamelink, Nancy Covelli, both of Kenosha; eight grandchildren; Chris Seymour, Steve (Linda) Seymour, Katie Sciarra, David (Kris) Hamelink Jr., Paul (Beth) Hamelink, Richard (Sherri) Covelli, Todd Covelli, Jennifer (Jason) Hamann; 17 great grandchildren Allison, James, Scott, Danny, Annelise, Tony, Nicole, Shauna, Courtnie, Jessica, Crystal, Joey, Nicholas, Brittani, Anthony, Christopher, Kaitlyn, one great great grandchild Alysha and many loving nieces and nephews. Long time dear friend and niece Dolores Alfredson and her children, Jerry, Lynn, Janet and Elaine and niece Joy further survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 4 brothers Ronald ?Doc?, Claire, Theodore ?Ted? and Charlie.

Funeral service for Marion will be held on Saturday June 18, 2005 at 11:00AM at the First Presbyterian Church at 1803-83rd Street in Kenosha. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:00AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Greenridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
