Lorraine Blink (1924 – 2012)

Lorraine Evelyn Blink age 87, of Waller, Texas died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at North Cypress Medical Center of complications following surgery. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, the loving daughterr of the late William and Lavinia Rieck Critchett.

On December 22, 1945 she married the late Milton William Blink. They were married almost 56 years at the time of his death. Lorraine spent most of her life in the Milwaukee area, graduating from Milwaukee Business Institute in 1943. She moved to Burlington Wisconsin in 1970. She spent a few years in Crystal Falls, MI before returning to Burlington. After her husband’s death and as her health deteriorated she went to live with her daughter in Waller, TX.

Lorraine and Milton were faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1958. Lorraine served the church in many capacities over the years utilizing her musical, teaching and organizational talents from directing music, playing piano, Sunday school teacher, and served a mission with Milton. She sang with her church choir, community choirs, and the Sweet Adelines for many years. She was passionate about genealogy. She was seldom seen without a crochet project or a book in her hands. She taught piano and accordion at Cascio’s School of Music in Milwaukee. Over her life she had a few other jobs from a retail clerk to office manager but her real job was always wife, mother and home-maker.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Milton, parents, infant brother William Robert Critchett, sister Mary Jane Critchett DeGuzman and niece Peggy Casper Fiedler.

She is survived by daughter Bonnie Sue Blink (Danny Baisey) of Waller, TX and son David William (Kimberly) Blink of Lyons, WI; six grandchildren—Heather Couchene, Spring, TX, John Couchene, Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Daniel, Emily, Benjamin and Breanna Blink, Lyons, WI; four great-grandchildren—Jeremiah Couchene, Waller, TX, Samuel Howard, Spring, TX, Madison Couchene, Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Matthew Yanny, Lyons, WI; two sisters—Bernice Wustefeld, Milwaukee, WI, Lavinia “Bunny” Wustefeld, Schaumburg, IL and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held at the Elkhorn Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, W4615 Potter Road, Elkhorn, WI 53121 on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 11:00AM. Visition with the family will be on Friday at the church from 9:00AM until the time of services. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, 14875 W Greenfield Avenue, New Berlin, WI. The family and friends will then gather at the West Allis Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 9600 W Grange Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53130 at approximately 1:15pm.
