John Harp (1929 – 2011)

John ?Jack? Edward Harp, age 82 a resident of Kenosha died Saturday September 17th 2011 at the Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie.

Born on July 19th 1929 in Antigo WI, he was the son of the late Herman and Ethel (Keen) Harp.

He was educated in the schools of Antigo WI.

He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953.

On February 25th 1956 he married Gwenella Mae Hayward in Antigo WI. She survives him.

He was employed for over 40 years at AMC/Chrysler Corporation, retiring in December of 1988.

He is a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a past member of Bethany Lutheran Church. While a member of Bethany he served as their treasurer. He was also a member of Local #72, active with its Radio Committee and a member of the Kenasha Club. He was also active at the Senior Center where he enjoyed playing pool, and enjoyed his Saturday morning coffee breaks with friends.

He was a sports enthusiast, loved his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and enjoyed gardening. He especially loved camping and traveling in his motor home with his wife. He also used to fish and hunt as a younger man.

He is survived by his wife of Kenosha, two sons Bruce Harp of Kenosha, James Harp of Williamsburg VA, one daughter Cheryl (Steven) McCrary of Kenosha, four grandchildren; Rudy, Heather, Jessica, and Jonathan; great grandchildren Aalijah, Rudy, Kaya, Breezonna, Cash and Eden; one brother Daniel (Mary) Harp of Fredonia WI, and one sister Betty Moerhrke of New Freedom PA. He is further survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Chuck, Jerry and Don.

Funeral services will be held on Friday September 23rd 2011 at 7:00PM at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenosha. (2006-60th Street) Visitation with the family will take place on Friday at the church from 5:00PM until the time of services. Burial will take place at Southern WI Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday September 27th 2011 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated.
