James Long (1943 – 2011)

James “Jim” Allen Long, 67, passed away unexpectedly while surrounded by his family at Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Jim was born in Kenosha on August 18, 1943 to Herman and Trudy (Hauslien) Long. He attended St. Mark’s Catholic School, Lincoln Jr. High and was a 1961 graduate of Bradford H.S.

He married his best friend, Joanne McCarthy, on June 6, 1964 at St. Marks Catholic Church, where he was an active lifelong member.

Jim was a past member of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. -Barbershop Quartet and a member of the St. Marks Robed Choir. He was the owner of Lakeshore Auto Supply, manager of The Spot Drive-In, Johnston True Value, and F.I.M. Stores. He was a self proclaimed jack-of-all-trades who enjoyed working hard, most recently running a handyman service. He enjoyed going on Caribbean Cruises with his wife, water park adventures with his family and playing trains with his grandchildren and brother.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, his five children; James H. (Christine Demus) Long, Mary (Larry) Jouett, Kristen (Brian) Hetzel, Michael (Susan) Long and Nicole (Kevin) Uttech. Papa ChooChoo’s will also be missed by his 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Patricia (Richard) Callahan-Schmidt and Arline (John) Williamson and his father-in-law James McCarthy. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Marie McCarthy and his brother Capt. Herman Long.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday April 11th 2011 at 6:00PM at St. Mark Catholic Church in Kenosha.
