Harvey Schmidt (1918 – 2006)

Harvey L. Schmidt, age 87 a resident of Kenosha, died Friday April 14, 2006 at St. Catherine’s Medical Center.

Born on June 3, 1918 in Gillette WI, he was the son of the late Herman and Liz (Zahn) Schmidt. He was educated in the schools of Gillette WI.

In 1941 he married Marcella Bublitz. She died in November of 1997.

He was employed by American Motors for 27 ? years as a General Superintendent and retired in 1970. He had also been employed by Kohler in Kohler WI.

He was a member of Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church for 52 years and had been an usher there. He was also a member of the Danish Brotherhood for 22 years.

He enjoyed playing cards with his Danish Brotherhood friends. He also loved to fish and hunt and attended many Milwaukee Brewer and Chicago Cub games. He also liked watching football and going to the casinos.

He is survived by three daughters Kathy Johnson, Carol (Tom) Beranis, Nancy (John) Slye; six grandchildren, Julie Zajak, Scott Johnson, Tom Slye, Mike Slye, Steve Beranis, and David Beranis, four great grandchildren Brook Zajak, Abby Slye, Tyler Slye, and Emily Slye. He is further survived by his companion and caregiver, Frances Iorio. He will be sorely missed by Diane Iorio, Tea, Sebastian, and Bruno Price.

He was preceded in death by his parent; his wife; five brothers, Clarence, Harold, Erwin, Herman Jr., Elroy, and two sisters Elsie (Monti Arnold) and Edna (Del O’Brien).

Funeral services for Mr. Schmidt will be held Tuesday April 18, 2006 at 11:00AM at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenosha. (5038-19th Avenue) Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the church from 10:00AM until the time of services. Burial will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church Choir.
