Gladys Hurley

          Gladys Mary Hurley, age 86 a resident of Mt. Pleasant, WI went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.  Gladys was surrounded by her loving family during her short stay at Manor Care in Kenosha.

          Gladys was born on September 30, 1927 in Aspers, PA to the late George and Helen (Black) Weaver Sr. On December 23, 1950 Gladys married James G. Hurley.  They celebrated their 63rd anniversary in December. Gladys was employed as a secretary at Walker Manufacturing and Massey Harris Manufacturing for 20 years. She took time off to raise her three sons, returning to work part-time as a clerk at Boston Store for 20 years.

          Gladys was a member of Grace Church for over 60 years, faithfully teaching Sunday School and Bible School for many years, while also serving on several church committees. She enjoyed playing cards, especially with her Bridge Club. She also enjoyed her Bible studies, bowling, shopping, traveling and spending time with family.  She especially enjoyed her trips to visit family and friends in PA.

          While we celebrate Gladys’ life and home-going, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Gladys was full of life and loved spending time with people.  She was a joy to be with. Gladys is survived by her loving husband James, sons Steven (Machele) of Bristol and Scott (Jeni) of Kenosha. She is also survived by eight grandchildren Ashley, Meghan, Abbi (Justin), Aaron, Austin, Mallory, Tanner and Paige and two great grandchildren Ava and Owen. She is further survived by her brother Donald Weaver of PA, sister-in-law Carolyn Weaver of PA, nieces and nephews.

          Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, brother George Jr and son James Jr.

          Private family services will be held on Friday, April 4th 2014 at the Southern WI Veterans Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
