Floyd Ishmael

Floyd Ishmael, age 80, resident of Pleasant Prairie, WI, died Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 at his residence.

Floyd was born in Irving, IL to Harlos and Bertha (Altevogt) Ishmael on January 13, 1936. He attended schools in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. He served as a Specialist 3rd Class in the Armored Division of the U.S. Army with emphasis in fuel & electrical repair, in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

In 1958 he married Annette J. Cappelen.  He was employed by Coopers (Jockey) as a young man. He entered the auto industry at Libertyville Chevrolet, and worked at Gordon Auto Parts early on in his marriage. He then began the adventure of small business ownership with several gas stations including Standard Service Station, Roosevelt Shell, and Sheridan Road Shell. He then opened Ishmael Auto Sales and Ishmael Auto Parts and Sales.

He was a long time member of the Kenosha Kiwanis Breakfast Club and served on the Pleasant Prairie Planning Commission. He was a Boy Scout Leader, a Band of The Black Watch Band Chaperone and member of the Band Boosters Club. Floyd enjoyed traveling within the US as well as overseas, restoring old cars, attending swap meets, and riding his bicycle across the country. Floyd adored his Grandchildren and loved to eat ice cream.

He is survived by his wife Annette, his children Kelly Francois of Kenosha, WI, Kris (Greg) Vallin of Evergreen, CO, Richard Ishmael of Racine, WI  and his three grandchildren Bridger, Tessa and Cassidy Vallin all of Evergreen, CO.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brothers Kenneth, Ivan and Carl Ishmael.

A Celebration of Floyd’s Life will be held on Friday, October 14th, 2016, beginning at 5:00PM at First Presbyterian Church in Kenosha. (1803-83rd Street) Family remarks will conclude the evening at 6:30PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to his favorite club, the Kenosha Kiwanis Breakfast Club, or Hospice Alliance would be appreciated.
