Edgar Eastridge (1940 – 2010)

Edgar Garry Eastridge, age 69 a resident of Waterford died Friday April 30th 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Milwaukee.

Edgar was born on November 22, 1940 in Damascus VA to the late Quincy and Blanch (Eller) Eastridge. He spent his childhood in the mountains of Virginia, his teen years in Florida and was a soldier for eleven years.

On January 4, 1966 Edgar married Janice Cressell in Hopkinsville KY. They moved to the area in 1970. He was a member of the armed forces in both the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army. He served from 1964-1965 in the Philippines, 1966-1967 in Viet Nam, 1967-1968 at Ft. Eutis VA, 1968-1970 in Germany. Edgar was employed by Hawthorn Melody Milk Co. He was a truck driver and mechanic until 1998 when he became disabled. His passion was country music and he played in two bands. Country Grass (with his brothers) and Tim Castle and Young Southern. Edgar was a member of VFW 10441. He loved his grandchildren above all else.

Edgar is survived by his wife Janice, daughter Melissa Lynn (Thomas James) Strasser of Waterford WI and grandchildren Wyatt Russell Strasser and Jessica Laura Strasser of Waterford WI. He is also survived by brothers Albert Eastridge of Lyons WI, Tommy (Beverely) Eastridge of Arlington VA, Larry (Pam) Eastridge of Lyons WI, Wade Eastridge of Bluff City TN and Bill (Debra) Eastridge of TN and sisters Ruth Martin of VA and Lucille (D.J.) Bennett of FL.

Edgar was preceded in death by his Mother and Father Quincy and Blanch Eastridge, sister Mary Eastridge, and brothers Paul Eastridge and Carl Eastridge.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 5th 2010 at 12:00 noon at First Congregational Church in Rochester WI. (103-South State Street) Visitation with the family will be Wednesday at the church from 11:00AM until the time of services. Burial will take place at the Southern WI Veterans Cemetery in Union Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to either the Veterans Post #10441 or to the First Congregational Church in Rochester.
