Dorothy Garcia

Dorothy L. Garcia, age 79, a resident of Kenosha, died Tuesday January 29, 2013 at her residence.

Dorothy was born in Kenosha WI to Robert and Mamie (Quimby) Hyatt. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and on April 28, 1951 she was united in marriage with Abel Garcia Sr. Dorothy worked as a crossing guard for a few years and also as a housekeeper at Washington Manor for over 15 years. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. She loved the Christmas season and took special joy in baking cookies with her daughter in law. She enjoyed gambling and traveling to different casinos.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Abel Garcia Sr., her three sons Abel Garcia Jr. (Brenda Frederick) of Kenosha, John Garcia of Phoenix AZ, and Joseph (Sherry) Garcia of Kenosha, and a son in law Michael Brown of Kenosha. She is further survived by three grandsons Jesse Garcia, Richard Garcia and Paul (Angie) Garcia and by two great grandchildren Alexis and Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Hyatt, her mother Mamie Marie Hyatt, her step father Joseph Divjak, her daughter Theresa Brown, her twin sister Mamie  Marie who was stillborn, her sister Donna Becker and brother-in-law Chuck Becker.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 2, 2013 at 11:00AM at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Kenosha (5410 Sheridan Rd). Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00AM until 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Greenridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.

            Dorothy’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Bandealy and his staff and to Hospice Alliance for their kind and compassionate care of Dorothy.

    I am very sorry for your loss. Aunt Dorothy was a wonderful fun loving person. I always enjoyed the times with her in visits to Texas and in Las vegas. I will miss her dearly.
