Dennis Gross (1937 – 2011)

Dennis J. Gross age 74 and a resident of Kenosha died Monday September 12, 2011 at Kenosha Hospital and Medical Center.

Born on May 18, 1937 in Kenosha he was the son of the late Harold H. and Edna A. (Pitts) Gross. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from St. Joseph High School. He enlisted in the Unites States Army National Guard, where he served as an assistant gunner and sharpshooter in the 126th Field Artillery Battalion from 1955-1958 and again from 1961 to 1962.

Dennis was employed for many years as a salesman, working for Sears, Total Furniture, and Carpets Plus. He was an avid Packer fan, and enjoyed golf, cribbage, softball and bowling. He was a past member of the Holy Name Society and was known as a singer in his childhood.

On June 10, 2005, he was united in marriage to Kathie F. (Vaughn) Gross who survives him. He is also survived by three sons; Michael J. Gross of Kenosha, Steven D. (Erin) Gross of Tomah WI and Danny D. Hardy of Kenosha as well as a daughter Kathy A. Hardy of Kenosha. Surviving Dennis also are his brother Robert H. (Katherine) of Canoga Park Ca. and a sister Betty Lou Becker of Kenosha. He is further survived by his nine grandchildren, and also his former wives Judith M. Pavlik and Nicki S. Sheffer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Debbie Gross.Funeral services will be Monday September 19, 2011 at Kemper Center at 6:00PM. Visitation with the family will take place at Kemper Center from 4:00PM until the time of the service at 6:00PM. Private interment will take place at the South Eastern Wisconsin Memorial Veterans Cemetery.

    We were best friends growing up in Kenosha in the early 1950’s. He was a good singer and friend. We double dated in the early 1960’s. A good friend and person.
