Daniel Andre Sr

Daniel D. Andre Sr. age 74, a resident of Kenosha, died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Water’s Edge Nursing and Rehab.

Daniel was born June 1, 1942 in Arcadia, Wisconsin to Edward and Josephine (Thomas) Andre. He was educated in the schools of Arcadia and moved to Kenosha in the early 1960’s. He served in the U.S. Army and was united in marriage with Sandra Schacht on June 17,1967 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He was employed at Ladish-Tri Clover for 37 years, retiring in 2001. More recently, he worked part time at Jerry Smith’s Produce, where he enjoyed pulling the hayride wagon.

Dan loved to garden and was famous for jarring and canning treasures from his garden, including his famous spicy horseradish. To many people, he was known as “Dan the Pickle Man”. He loved baseball (when the Cardinals were playing) and served as a Little League coach. He was a member of the Moose Club and enjoyed playing cards with friends. Dan loved to play golf, was an avid bicycle rider, and danced a mean polka.

He is survived by his four sons, Daniel (Kim Reiher) Andre Jr. of Kenosha, Deron (Christine) Andre of Green Bay, Brent (Nancy Wolf) Andre, and Troy (Abby Rimstidt) Andre, both of Kenosha. He is further survived by one grandchild, Alexandra Andre of Green Bay, one brother, Adrian (Joyce) Andre of Florida and one sister Ruth (Kenneth) Amundson of Eau Claire.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Sandra in 2016.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Peters Catholic Church (2224 30th Avenue). Visitation with the family will take place on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of mass. Burial will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 9:00 am at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.

    I send my deepest sympathy to you. I served mass with Danny in North Creek at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Visiting with him was always a real good time. He was always a very nice man. May he rest in peace.
